Update (9/10/2025): Along with the release of the new Offerchat dashboard and widget, configuration settings to integrate your Offerchat account with Pidgin has been changed. We are yet to add that information in your own dashboard view. For now, please contact us through the chat widget below or email our Support Team (support at offerchat dot com) for the correct settings for your account.

You can integrate your Offerchat live chat account and chat outside the Dashboard, and thus, outside the browser. There are two sources of integration guides for Pidgin you’ll find in our resources. First option is in the dashboard, second is in the Offerchat blog.

First Option:

The Offerchat dashboard has a step-by-step guide to integrate live chat with the Pidgin instant messaging client on your computer. To access it, login to the dashboard and follow these steps:

Click My Account from the top navigation

Click your avatar image in the dashboard to access the account settings screen. Alternatively, you can click the status indicator once to display the dropdown and click Account to access your settings.

Go to IM Settings

Click the IM Settings tab on the screen to display the right view

 

Display Pidgin integration tutorial

Click Pidgin on the current screen to read the step-by-step instructions and view screenshots of the whole process.

Second Option:

Here’s an alternative source of the complete tutorial on how to chat with your customers and site visitors through the Pidgin instant messaging desktop app from the blogs. Handy if you cannot access the Offerchat dashboard at the moment.

Update (4/10/2025): To avoid any conflict on the display name on the widget and to ensure the widget on your site displays the name you want to appear, set a display name on your Account settings in the Offerchat dashboard. See this post for step-by-step instructions.
